FAQ
  • What happens if I start using Hardcore Score on an existing Character. Will it reflect an accurate score.
No, Hardcore Score has no knowledge of all of your journey and therefore cannot give an accurate score. You will see a score but it will not accurate.
  • How is the score calculated?
There are a lot of different calculations that go into the scoring. We are working on a document that has a lot of detail. In general though keep these things in mind. Equipped Gear - The higher the color the better score you will get. Leveling - All leveling is scaled. We believe the biggest reward should be when you gain a level. When you level all categories will see an increase. Questing - The harder the quest the more points you will get. The points you get are based on the XP you receive the quest. Keep in mind that if you do a hard quest (yellow or orange) and wait until you turn it in when it is green, you will get a lower score. No points are counted for grey quests. Mobs Killed - Most likely this is where most of you points are going to come from. The higher level mobs you kill the more points you will get. The points you get are based on the XP you get from the mob you killed. If it is a higher level mob you will get a higher multiplier so you will get more points. So if you grind higher level mobs you will get a better score than someone who grinds greens. Professions - Are a great way to get easy points in the lower levels. The points you get from professions is based on the profession level. The higher the level you get the profession the more bonuses you will received. Also, if you untrain a profession you keep the score you did for that level you untrained. So it is possible to gain points from more than 2 professions (plus fishing, first-aid and cooking). Faction Reputation - Faction grind is important and you are rewarded for increasing you faction rating. You get points for any that are Neutral and above. There are bonuses for the higher you go. Discovery - We think this is a cool one. You get points for every part of a map that you discovery. This includes ALL areas and even the ones you don't get XP for. However, if you do get XP for discovering a zone or sub zone you get extra points. So if you want to push your score than do more exploring but with that comes the risk of death. Milestones - Are progression accomplishments that you get on your journey. They are things like reaching a certain level, killing a certain number of mobs or doing an x number of quests. Have fun discovering the different Milestones.
  • What is the highest score I can get if I reach level 60.
That depends on a lot on how you get your points. However, at the current state of the addon you should get somewhere between 10,000-15,000 points upon reaching level 60. Get more than 15K and prove us wrong though.
  • What happens if I die.
Currently we do track if you die. We don't do anything with it at this time but we probably will in the future.
  • Why do I start out with some score.
Because you have equipment and rep when you start a new character. Each new character might have a different starting score based on what reputation and items they are wearing but they will be very close.
  • What if I find a bug?
That would be awesome! Please post it to the Bug channel in our Discord.
  • The categories seem unbalanced.
This is by design. You won't get more points for Discovery than you will with killing mobs for example. However, we expect the need to balance things so please provide feedback with your thoughts.
  • Will you be adding more categories?
Yes, most definitely. We are already working on Dungeons and Achievements.
  • What if I am in a group. How is my score calculated?
The biggest effect is with mob kills. Since mob kills are based on XP and the level of the mob you will get points based on the partial XP you get in your group. Keep in mind though even though you get XP you must be an active participant in the mob kill(s). There is no carrying someone through a dungeon and you not doing anything. You have to work to get your points.
  • Is there a way to view the details of when I get my points?
Yes, you can show the Points log at anytime by turning it on in the options. Keep in mind not all points gained show up. We are still working on this feature but in most cases you should see when you gain points and how many. If you don't see it in the log do not worry most likely you got the proper credit.
  • Can I see another players score?
Yes, if you are in the same guild, raid or party and near that character you can hover your mouse over the character or their portrait and see all their score stats in the tooltip.
  • What if I don't want someone to see my score?
You can choose to not share your score in the options.
  • Do I need to have the Hardcore addon installed to use Hardcore Score?
No, Although we support the Hardcore addon and recommend using it, Hardcore Score is its own separate addon and does not need the Hardcore addon installed.
